Doo-Ri Chung is known for her exceptional draping skills and her signature jersey dresses. Her collection will feature plenty of jersey, drapery, knitwear, and art-inspired pieces. Chung aims to create a collection that encompasses an entire wardrobe, not just statement pieces.
According to WWD, Doo-Ri Chung for Impulse will hit stores in February and will sell for about eight weeks in stores and online. Chung is the fifth designer to have an Impulse collection and follows such designers as Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli. Prices will range from $39 to $159.
Although the Macy’s target market is quite different from Chung’s usual customers, the department store wants to ensure that “there’s no designing down for the masses.” Chung agreed, saying that “the customer is very different from whom we’ve catered to before, but I really didn’t have to adapt. Macy’s wanted to keep the design level high. I didn’t feel the challenge was very different.”
