Peridot the birthstone for August. It’s deep green with flecks of gold. It is beautiful and rare. According to traditional lore is said to stimulate the liver and metabolism. It is deemed to emit a spiritual energy channelling love and abundance, and is associated with strength and balance.

From a scientific point of view, the light waves that we see as green create a penetrating colour, and this light wave has uniform absorption and penetration in the leaves of plants.
