Product Review Rodan and Fields
A few months ago I wrote an article about skin care. I talked about how I used to have blemish prone skin and what worked for me, and a kind reader who is also a Rodan and Fields devotee got in touch with me and offered to send me some free samples to try, so that I could get a feel for their products.
She sent me an active hydration body replenish lotion, an active hydration serum for the face that can be used with your current moisturiser and a microdermabrasion paste that can be used on the face.
I always like to try new products because my clients are all so different with different needs, that when I find a good product it is bound to work for someone down the track. I have to confess that I do not use scrubs or micro dermabrasion pastes on my face, I remember reading the works of Paula Begoun on skin care years ago and she is of the opinion that scrubs are damaging to the skin, and that a better way to exfoliate, especially the delicate skin of the face is to use topical acid lotions, such as an AHA to get rid of dead skin.
It was a nice sugar scrub and I did use it on my arms and lower legs. I like a scrub for my legs as it is important to exfoliate to allow the hairs to grow out of the follicle easily.
I liked the moisturising serum, and combined with my moisturiser it felt lovely. And I learnt something interesting from it – I sleep on my side and had to get up around midnight to help one of the children. I felt my face – the side that I had laid on felt normal, the other side felt beautiful and soft – I realised that I need to put my moisturiser on earlier, not right before bed, so that it has time to soak in to my face before it gets absorbed by my pillow.
So after trying the products and finding that they were nice, I then did a bit of online research to check the price. They are priced with more expensive skin care brands, such as Paula’s Choice, as opposed to Sukin from the chemist, but they are a lot cheaper than some skin care products on the market. For comparison you can pick up an unblemish skin kit of 4 products for $186. Some of the kits have a lot of products, 6 or more, and the price increases accordingly. So if you shop for skin care in that price bracket they are worth a try.
One thing I saw when doing my research was that some people (predominantly in the US) complained that they were on a monthly product plan and had trouble getting it cancelled. From what I can see you can just order without having a monthly deal, so this would avoid that problem.
So, if you are still looking for the perfect match for your skin these products seem to be thoughtful, high quality and diverse. And in the month of May there is a free eye cream with orders. I am not sure how much you have to order to be eligible for it, and there is free shipping as well. They also offer a 60 day trial period, which is a good long time to see if the products work for you.
If you are interested in trying Roan and Fields, they recommend filling out this questionnaire and they will recommend products for you.

So, even though it is a bit late to order in time for a Mother’s Day delivery, you can still treat yourself or mum. It is always a good time to be kind to your mum, she’s kind to you all year!
On that note, I hope that you all have a fabulous connected Mother’s Day, that you hug the people you are allowed to hug, and face time those that you can’t see in person. And that you enjoy whatever you cook and don’t forget to post a photo to instagram :).
