Finally! An at home colour course that gives you the accuracy of seeing a good colour analyst, that you can do right now for a fraction of the cost.
Trying to look good can be like playing a game to which you don't know the rules.
I can pretty much guarantee that if you care about how you look, it has caused you difficulty at one time or another. Firstly - although being able to style yourself well is a learnt skill, most of us weren't taught it. Good outfits seem to be all around us, but when we try and make one most of the time it doesn't work. It is like trying to build a complex layer cake with fancy icing with no recipe, just a picture. Many of us buy many items of clothing that we don't wear, largely because we cannot make satisfactory outfits out of them. And then something that we don't normally have to dress for comes along and we are stumped. What do we wear? We know how we want our outfit to make us feel, but we don't know how to achieve it.
This Course includes the same theory taught in colour analyst training. No more guessing, stressing or crowd sourcing colour analysis verdicts. This course will make you a PCA expert.
1. What is Seasonal Analysis? Why is it 'seasonal'? What is tonal analysis?
2. What are we actually looking for in colour analysis? What do we mean by a 'flattering colour'!
3. Why to find colours we must drape. It is a matter of comparison to find the best colours for you.
This course contains all my knowledge gained from decades of study and 10 years as a practising Analyst. It contains heaps of knowledge on how to discover your own best colour palette. As well as interesting digressions! I know how colour analysis works and I can teach and guide you. It includes
1. Large palettes of colours for each of the 12 season subsets to reference and use as needed.
2. A full draping plan that tells you exactly which colours to compare together against yourself.
3. A work book with DETAILED questions to ask about each colour you drape.
4. The work book helps you interpret your data and know what test to do next.
5. Access to me in a weekly facebook live and via email.
After the course you will not see colour, clothes or yourself in the same way. You will know clearly
1. What to buy. No more wasting money. Just leave the wrong coloured clothes. Walk away.
2. That your clothes, all from you best colours, all work together and look great EASILY
3. That when you need a wow outfit having one in your best colours will take it to a completely new level.
Originally, before colour analysis became insta-famous you either read about it and tried a bit of self diagnosis, or you saw an analyst.
These days there are also online quizzes, apps that you can use and online analysis sessions. There are people talking about PCA in online facebook groups, on reddit, tik tok and instagram. Some of what some people say is really accurate useful information, some is people theorising and there are a lot of people trying to work their colours out themselves, but without any real guidance as to how to do it. A lot of the apps or quizzes are good in theory but confusing in practice.
It involves putting real fabric under your chin to see what it does to your skin. Anything less than that is not going to be as clear. Apps that put a photo of you in a circle of different colours lack the actual interplay of the colour of the drape casting light onto the face. In this at home colour course you will put real colours under your chin and see how different your skin looks from colour to colour. This makes it easy to see which colour in each comparison test is better. And we are not just comparing drapes to us, we are comparing different drapes to us and to each other. We want to see the change from drape to drape. So that moment when we swap from a cool pink to a warm coral colour we can see what each colour did to our skin tone.
This course is also best practice in that it all happens in real life, you are not having to send your image either to a person or an app through technology. Using photos or an online video platform to do colour analysis consults is not ideal. The problems with it are various. Video platforms typically do not send good quality images. Their aim is to keep the connection up and running and they are less concerned about light and colour accuracy. So if you do an online consult via one of these platforms the image quality will not be good. Colour accuracy and saturation will be lacking and basically the person on the other end will not get an accurate representation of how you actually look in those colours. And if you are sending photos or images most phone cameras are set to auto correct colour to be more 'flattering' meaning you won't get colour trueness. But in this course it is you looking in a mirror and that is what works.
It uses my exact draping plan that I use with clients. By plan I mean a structured order. When you do this course you will have draping tests, such as warm vs cool where two different types of colour are compared with each other. Within this test there will be pairings where you compare one cool drape to one warm drape at a time and work your way through a number of these comparison pairs. I will tell you exactly what to look for. This is totally different to hopping into an online chat and posting a picture of you in a jumper and asking what season you are. You simply need more data, and you need comparative data, and you really need to follow a good draping plan to get that.
Along with this plan, this course has a fantastic work book where you clarify what you are seeing, record it and then analyse what it means and know what to do next. For example, you drape yourself in a warm red vs a cool. You can see that they look different, but? The work sheet then asks you a series of questions about both colours that you need to answer. You will do this for every pairing in the warm and cool test. At the end of the test you will see if either warm or cool was consistently better or worse. As a result of this you can determine if you are going to drape further within just cool, further within just warm, or if neither was clearly better or worse what you do then.
Another feature of best practice draping that this course incorporates is that we do not ask you to assume what your best season will be just based on a hair, skin and eye quiz. Although these quizzes can be fun they will not give you an accurate diagnosis. Apart from the fact that they can be quite non specific (who can really tell if they have a warm blue eye?) They are looking at the wrong thing. Best practice colour analysis does not analyse you off your hair or eye colour. A very practiced analyst will have seen enough hair and eye colours that they may draw correlations off them and have a private theory as to someone's colouring, but this theory still needs to be proven in a proper draping session. Best practice colour analysis is about looking at what fabric does first and foremost to your skin tone. Once we have found what type of colours do and don't work for your skin tone we will work within those to select the colours that are best for your overall colouring including eyes and hair. But your palette absolutely must work for your skin first and foremost and this is why we drape. And although I have heard reports online of analysts who rule out or select seasons based upon hair and eye colour this course will not get you to do that as it is not a practise that I am comfortable with. It has a high chance of failure.
And you can only be sure that you have found the best if you work your way through the comparisons, picking a winner and then comparing the colours within that winning category. This is again why posting a jumper picture to a face book group cannot tell you your best colour palette. People will be able to tell you if that particular top looked bad or good to them, but even if it looks good, there maybe something even better. Maybe you are good in cool and soft, but even better in cool and soft and light. Thorough comparison is also better than just looking at people and assuming based off their hair and eye colour.
Another key part of this course is that you benefit enormously, as the owner of the face being draped, seeing and thinking deeply about the different types of colour. You haven't just flipped through a course or an app, or even entrusted this to an analyst. You have spent the time educating yourself sufficiently that you are now expert and can act as your own colour expert when shopping and putting together outfits. This means also that you will avoid the disappointing experience of booking yourself in for a colour consult with an online or face to face analyst only to have the consult but not be satisfied that the result is correct. I see quite a few people having this experience and recording it on reddit or in facebook PCA groups. Sadly not everyone who offers to do colour analysis is well trained or experienced. But if you do your own analysis and are unhappy with your result the first time round it is not a huge problem. Get into the face book group and talk to me, have a look at your draping results and what you don't like about your result and you will be able to work it out. And when you do you will have such a deep confidence and understanding of your colouring which will be hugely useful as you use your colours going forward.
I love the moment in a draping when a person first sees HOW DIFFERENT colours can make them look. It blows them away. A lot of people have lived their whole life without really getting to see how different they look in different types of colour. Often we wear colours in isolation, so we don't quickly flip between a cool pink and a warm pink, or we aren't even thinking about colour, fit can be hard enough.
But that moment where you realise that colours affect the way you look and then you find your best palette, is magic. And you can't unsee it. I went home from my colour analysis and looked at my clothe sin unflattering colours with a new and profound dislike. I never felt happy wearing tops in my wrong colours again, it was just too obvious how bad they were.
This clarity around colour is going to make it so much easier for you to shop and dress well. Once you have done the course you will have a key ingredient in the style recipe.
Everything looks so much more fantastic in your correct colours. Simple t shirts suddenly make you look amazing. Suits, party dresses in your best colours are a whole different thing to in just ok colours.
